Insightful, bright, honest, and genuine...but with a contemporary edge.

This is the style of portraits I love to capture!  Whether I'm photographing children or high school seniors, every session is natural, relaxed, and unhurried, with a touch of humor and playfulness added in!

Take some time to browse around my site and you'll get a feel for my style.  The portfolio links above will take you to a gallery of my favorite images.  Like what you see?  Then send me an email to schedule your portrait session and get more information!

I look forward to working with you to capture the SIMPLE EXPRESSIONS of your life!

Happy Holidays!

As the holidays gets closer, I hope you are able to step back from the hustle and bustle and simply enjoy the season!   With that in mind…Simple Expressions Photography will be closed December 18-January 5 as I enjoy this time with my family.  I wish you all a wonderful holiday season!

Sneak Peek…(a little late!)

In the craziness of the past few weeks, I realized I forgot to post a sneak peek from this session.  It’s just a tad late (considering I’m meeting up with Mom tomorrow for the ordering appointment) but I still wanted to share.  These close-ups are some of my favorites from the session.  I am so loving this type of shot lately!  I can’t decide between the color or black and white version though.  What do you think?

Whew!

Wow – I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving already.  This fall seems to have flown by!   Because I’ve been so busy lately, my poor little blog has been a bit neglected.  I’m sorry blog.  :(

Thank you so much to my awesome clients for an incredible fall season!  If you are still waiting on orders from me, please know that I am busy as an elf getting everything ready for you before the holidays.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!  (And I can’t post without pictures so here are some very handsome brothers I had the pleasure of photographing recently!)

Sneak Peek…Family Session

I love when clients come back for repeat sessions so I can see how their children (and families) have grown!  This family has added a new addition since we first met back in 2007.  :)   So we got together on a beautiful fall morning  at one of my favorite locations for some updated family pictures.  I love the image below of the boys - #2 being sweet to the baby and #1 just having a good time!

Here’s your sneak peek Mom and Dad.  I’ll be in touch very soon when your preview is ready!

Fall is here…Apples!

When fall comes around I always look forward to apple picking!  The past couple of years, we didn’t quite have our timing right.  One year it was too early in the season (and too hot!)  Sorry – picking apples in sweltering heat and shorts and just doesn’t spell FALL to me!  The next year we waited too long and most of the trees were picked over.  But this year…we hit it just right!  A few weekends ago we headed up to the Graves Mountain Harvest Festival for some fall fun and apple picking.  We’ve realized though that we have a problem when it comes to picking our own fruit in that we don’t know when to stop!  Well, two big boxes (and an extra bag of golden delicious) later we left!  It was all worth it though.  The kids had a great time climbing the trees and reaching for that perfect apple.  And we’ve been enjoying lots of yummy apple treats!  Here’s one recipe we tried this weekend…Apple Chip Oatmeal Cookies.  We took a batch to church on Sunday and they were snatched up in no time!  Enjoy!

Apple Chip Oatmeal Cookies

  • 1 c shortening
  • 1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 c quick cooking oatmeal
  • 1 c butterscotch chips (I think I put the whole bag in b/c I LOVE butterscotch chips! :) )
  • 1 c peeled, chopped apples

Cream together shortening and sugars.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.  Add vanilla.  Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.  Add to creamed mixture, mixing well.  Add oatmeal, chips, and apples.  Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes until done.  YUM!

Sneak Peek…Class of 2010

I have been so lucky to photograph the most amazing seniors lately and this session was no exception!  It was so much fun spending the morning with “A” and her mom.  Not only is she beautiful, but she is oh so smart, funny, and has such a sparkling personality!  (Not to mention the awesome clothes…check out this rockin’ dress and boots!)  She also wanted to bring her car for a few photos and I thought this was a great idea!  Isn’t it cool? Thank you “A’ for such an awesome session!  Here’s a little sneak peek for you.  Enjoy!

Sneak Peek |Stafford Virginia Family Photographer

It didn’t take long for these two to warm up to the camera (since we are already friends that probably helped, right?! ;) )   While mom and dad explored the grounds we did our own exploring and found some great spots.  Thanks for a fun afternoon and for being such great sports (even though I made you do icky stuff like hold hands! LOL!)

Mom and dad – here’s a little sneak peek for you.  I’ll be in touch soon when your preview is ready!

We were a little worried first thing in the morning that the weather wasn’t going to cooperate.  As it turns out we could not have had a more beautiful day for this session.  I was so glad to meet up with the “C” family again.  When we last meet, #3 was just a newborn.   Now they have another addition to their beautiful family!   My how time flies!   Here’s a little sneak peek of our morning together.  Mom and dad – I’ll be in touch when the rest are finished.  Thank you again for sharing your morning with me!

What a beautiful morning (we’ve had alot of those lately) to meet up with the “O” family for a session.  They were so easy going and fun!  We have crossed paths through school and sports but it was so nice to get to know them a little better this morning.  Thanks kids for being my “assistants.”  I loved your jokes too! :)

Here’s a little sneak peek for you.  I’ll be in touch soon when your preview is ready.   Have a great holiday weekend!
